Designer Ski Goggles

There is no question that wearing the right gear when skiing is essential. No one should hit the slopes without a good pair of ski goggles. There's just one problem – a lot of the models out there are functional but ugly.

You can buy designer ski goggles that look fantastic, but start saving now – they're expensive. Or, more accurately, most are costly. At MessyWeekends, we aim to create affordable designer gear without sacrificing quality.

What to Look for in a Good Set

If you’re not sure what to look for in ski goggles, this section will clear it up for you.

The Lens Shape

It's a no-brainer that the glasses should curve to hug your face. But did you know that they can curve vertically as well? The difference is:

  • Flat: These models fit across the face. They offer proper protection but can block some peripheral vision. These models tend to be cheaper.
  • Spherical: These look a little like the bubble glasses you see pilots wearing. These lenses don't affect your peripheral vision and are better at cutting out distortions and glare.

Ventilation

Models that fog up quickly are no good. Fogging happens because body heat makes the inside of the glass warm. When the freezing air outside hits it, fogging results.

Glasses that include the following features are the best way to overcome the fogging issue:

  • Dual-layered lenses: This is a pretty simple fix. The outer lens is separated from the inner one by a pocket of air. As a result, the heat stops at the inner layer. And you don’t experience fogging.
  • Anti-fog Coating: Manufacturers apply an anti-fog coating during manufacture to combat this issue.
  • Vents: Vents allow some of the warm air to be released before it causes fogging issues.

Lens Colour and Visible Light Transmission (VLT)

It's pointless to have a stylish lens colour if you can't see out of it. The darker the lens colour, the less light it lets through. That's great when the sun's out in full force. But it can make things difficult on a dull, dreary day.

Lighter tints let more light through, so they’re better for those dreary days. On a bright summer’s day, however, they don't provide as much protection.

These tints allow for more VLT:

  • Yellow
  • Amber
  • Rose
  • Green
  • Gold

When it’s bright outdoors, reach for these tints:

  • Dark Blue
  • Copper
  • Brown
  • Gray

Clear lenses are for twilight or night use.

Good Extras to Consider

UV Protection

You need at least UVA and UVB protection. Cheap glasses may cut the glare, but they don't protect from UV radiation.

Polarisation

A polarising lens cuts glare effectively. It's not an essential feature if you have an excellent lens filter.

Photochromatic

These lenses are more versatile. They react to the amount of light around them. When light levels are low, they become lighter in tint. When the sun is bright, they become darker.

Mirrored

This is a reflective coating that we place on the outside of the lens. The coating reflects light and reduces how much of it makes it into your eyes.

Interchangeable

Your best option is to find a pair that allows you to swap out lenses. That way, you can get a few different-coloured glasses and swap them as necessary.

The Fit

Fit is critical. You don't want glasses that start chafing after a few minutes on the slopes. The materials used for the lenses, the strap, and the padding all affect how well glasses fit you.

The lens material should be a little flexible to allow a tighter fit, and the strap should be adjustable. Padding can ensure a better and more comfortable fit.

A Few More Things

  • Are you planning on using a helmet? If so, will it accommodate your new goggles?
  • Is the strap easy to adjust? Does it have a fair amount of range?
  • What is the quality of the padding? It should be plush and mold a little to the shape of your face.

Okay, that’s what you need to know about goggles for skiing. Now let’s move on to our range.

Men’s Ski Goggles Sale

We set out to produce a more affordable designer product. We're cautious about adding too many lines and models because that increases costs. Instead, we chose a design that suits most people and made it top-quality.

We do have a few more designs in the works, so watch this space. We’ll release them when they’re perfect.

XE-One Black

This design is minimalist. But with these cool lenses, you don't need a lot of design features.

The lenses are high-quality polycarbonate with a small amount of flex to help them mold to your face. The lenses are:

  • Photochromic
  • Rated at UV400 to cancel out UVA and UVB radiation.
  • Dual-layered
  • Revo-Mirrored

In conjunction with the anti-fog coating we apply, there’s little chance of fogging. But, we didn’t want to take chances, so we also included six vents to channel away warm air.

The lens colours include:

  • Blue
  • Red
  • Green
  • Silver

You get your primary lens in the colour of your choice. We add an extra yellow lens that you can use when the light is bad. Our lenses are easy to clip in or out.

The frame itself is thin and offers an exciting design aspect. The strap is water-resistant and highly durable.

All of our goggle sets come with a hard plastic case to store them in.

And, as if that's not enough, you're helping the environment with each purchase. We're passionate about the environment, and so we partnered with an organization that cleans up the ocean. Buy one pair, and you help to clear 2 kilograms of trash from the sea.

XE-One Lenses

Maybe you want more variety. Perhaps you’d like to match your lenses to your outfit. Hey, we’re designers, we understand how important style is. The point is that we offer extra lenses at a reasonable cost. Choose the shade that you like or buy all of them.

Why Choose Us?

We're two young friends on a mission. There's nothing we love better than hitting the slopes at the weekend. We like to play hard and look good doing so. But, we also need to eat, and the cost of designer goggles was always out of our reach.

That’s why we started MessyWeekend. We don’t believe that you should have to pay a fortune for top-notch designer models. So, we did the hard work.  We toured Asia looking for the very best suppliers. (It’s a hard job, but someone has to do it.)

By the time we got back, we had already started designing the perfect set of goggles. And, being passionate about the environment, we set up our ocean cleanup program. That's why every pair you buy gets rid of 2 kg of plastic waste from the sea.

A Little More Information About the Ocean Cleanup

We found a great NGO, Proartso. In conjunction with them, we created the Origines project. This project is working to clear up the waste in the Columbian Pacific region. You buy your pair, and another lot of waste bites the dust.
